Law firm acquires quirky structure on 21st Avenue
By William Williams
A Hillsboro Village office building recognized for its quirky form has been sold for $1.3 million to a local law firm that will relocate to the site.
The three-story building — which offers a cantilever design — sits at 1929 21st Ave. S. and offers about 4,160 square feet.
The new owner is MHPS, which operates nearby at 2122 21st Ave. S.
Allen Crawford III and a relative sold the building and the 0.19 acres on which it sits, according to Metro records. The Crawfords acquired the property in 1991 for $95,700.
Matt Potempa, a partner with MHPS, said the firm plans to eventually move to the building.
“We’re working with our engineers and architects and also talking with neighboring property owners to determine the best use for the building,” he told the Post.
The firm, which focuses on estate, probate and family law, has operated from its current office for six year.
Of note, land surveying company Crawford and Cummings was once a tenant in the just-sold building, with Crawford having been a co-owner of that since-moved company (he has left).
The sales price is the equivalent of roughly $312.50 per foot based on the building’s size.
Scott McKinney, a senior associate with the local office of Foundry Commercial, represented the Crawfords.
Byran Fort, first vice president with the local office of CBRE, represented MHPS.
