John Wilks joined Martin Heller Potempa & Sheppard, PLLC as an associate in 2015. Before joining the firm, John practiced family law with Weatherly, McNally & Dixon, PLC in Nashville. While in law school, he served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Philip E. Smith of the 4th Circuit Court for Davidson County, Tennessee. During the summers of undergraduate school, John worked in the law office of his late father, Larry D. Wilks, Past President of the Tennessee Bar Association. John’s practice at MHPS is primarily devoted to family, estate and personal injury litigation.
A native of Springfield, Tennessee, John graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee, earning a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics and Business and his law degree from Nashville School of Law.
Additionally, John volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and local legal clinics. John is also a sports and outdoor enthusiast.
